Sewing a Fabric Badge in Photoshop

Download Fabric Linen by Jaqx Textures. Create a new document of size 500×708 pixels. Drag the texture downloaded into the working document. Name this layer as Fabric.

Create a Levels Adjustment Layer and key the settings as 34, 1.00, 255. Follow by another Hue/Saturation Adjustment Layer and set Hue to 0, Saturation to 46 and Lightness to -60.

Set the foreground color to #FF9000. Create a new layer and name it as Stripes. Draw a few vertical lines with various widths like the example below. Set the Blend Mode of this layer to Overlay.

Select the Custom Shape Tool and pick Sign 4 from the preset list. Make a path with that shape at the middle of the working document.

Go to Paths tab, select the path created and click on "Load Path as a Selection". Back to Layers tab, select the Fabric layer, press Ctrl+C to copy. Then press Ctrl+V to paste a new layer. Name this new layer as Badge. Go to Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation. Check on Colorize. Set the Hue to 200, Saturation to 45 and Lightness to 0.

Ctrl+left click on the Badge layer to load a selection. Create a new layer and name it as Border. Fill the selection with #FFFFFF. With the selection still on, go to Select > Modify > Contract. Set contract by 20 pixels. Hit Delete.

Type the texts you want to appear on the badge.

Merge Border and your text layers into one single layer. Ctrl+left click on the layer to load a selection. You may delete the merged layer. Now with the selection still on, select the Badge layer, press Ctrl+C to copy. Then Ctrl+V to paste a new layer. Name this newly pasted layer as Badge Items. Hide the Badge layer behind and you will get something similar to the example below.

Select Badge Items layer. Go to Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation. Check on Colorize. Set the Hue to 0, Saturation to 65 and Lightness to 0. Unhide the Badge layer.

Right-click on Badge Items layer and choose Blending Options. Check on Bevel and Emboss. Set the Style to Pillow Emboss, Size to 5px, Highlight Opacity to 30% and leave the rest of settings as default.

We need to create a new brush now. Open up the Brushes Palette. Go to Brush Tip Shape and enter the settings as shown below.

Go to Shape Dynamics and enter the settings as shown below.

Ctrl+left click on Badge Items layer to load a selection. Go to Paths tab, click on "Make Workpath from Selection". Set the foreground color to #FFFFFF. Right-click on the path create and choose Stroke Path. Set the type to Brush and hit OK.

That’s all and you are done! You may wish to adjust the colors of your badge items like what I have done. Hope you find this tutorial useful. Thanks!

Saving files in Photoshop

Saving files in Photoshop and file formats.

The file format you use to save your work in Photoshop will depend on how the image will be used.

Preserving Layers

If you want to perserve layer information so you can re-edit the image or apply the same techiques to another image, then save the image as a .psd file a PhotoShop Document.

The Menu item is

File > Save As

Keyboard short cut

Shift + Control + S (PC)

Shift + Command + S (Mac)

Save as Photshop Document

In the Save As Dialogue box

Give the file a unique name (Photoshop will add the extension, in this case .psd)

You can also check

Save: ? As A Copy and photoshop will add the word copy to the file name in this case it would be "Beach copy.psd"

TIP: In Photoshop, if there is a button or icon that you dont know what it does, put your "pointer" over the item and dont move it... in a few seconds a yellow box will popup and tell you what it does!

If you want to perserve layers in the PSD document Make sure the Layers box is checked and always perserve your color profile..

Saving for the Internet

The .jpg file format is "lossey" the more the file is compressed, the more data is thrown away. Too much compression and the image/photo looses detail...

The menu is

File > Save for Web...

Whats important here is to choose how much compression, and the file size you want to actually display on the web or in an e-mail

If the file is going to be displayed on a web page Check Convert to sRGB

Save for WEb Dialogue

When you make all your choices click the Save... button at the bottom of the page...

Role of education in economic development

The development economists uptil 1960’s attached great importance to material capital such as machines, new factories, new buildings etc, in the development process of the country. The manpower was not regarded an important variable for increasing productivity and income. Since 60’s, the emphasis is gradually shifting tp manpower as an important factor of development.

Education is considered as the cornerstone of board based economic growth and the poverty reduction. Education is a key to change and progress. The consensus is that Pakistan economic growth can be achieved with higher emphasis on the quality of its manpower.

Manpower consists of all segments of a society which are engaged in one from or the other in development activities. If a country has a trained manpower, it makes economic activities highly productive both in quantitative and qualitative aspects. If the manpower is illiterate, unskilled, under-nourished and of poor health, the output per man is low. This eventually leads to low income, low investment and country remains trapped in vicious circle of poverty.

The government of Pakistan is trying its best to improve human capital so that it should serve as a leading factor for the socio-economic development of the country. The literacy rate is estimated at 58% in the year 2011-12.

There is no doubt that in the last over three dacades, the literacy ratio has increased to 58% and the quality of education has improved, yet the progress on the whole is not satisfactory. The mass failure of students in the examinations, the misdirected education is resulting in the waste of precious resources of the country. It is , therefore, suggested that to meet the present and future requirements of manpower in different sectors of the economy, it should be developed on the following levels.

(I).Manpower oriented to industrial requirements.

The present day plants are becoming highly complex. There are rapid changes in the production patterns. In order to meet the changing requirements of the industrial sector, the education and training has to be carried on the following lines.

1. Handing new production lines, innovations.

2. Handing of new sophisticated equipments.

3. Technological assistance in maintaining the plant and the machinery.

4. Expansion in plant facilities.

5. On job facilities for improving performance.

6. Training for managerial performance.

(II).Manpoweroriented to agriculture activities.

Our economy is basically agricultural, employing about 44% of the total labour force. We can hardly boast of an existence of an effective manpower in this sector. In order to increase effective manpower for the sector, it is suggested that development should be made on the following lines.

1. Establishment of new rural academies and strengtheningof the existing ones for imparting agricultural know-how at the levels of primary, secondary and higher education.

2. Compulsory enrollment of young people to these academies.

3. Development of experimental farms attached to academies for practical education and demonstration.

4. Establishment of rural based industries side by and providing technical training.

(III). Manpower to cater various services requirements.

Service sector’s requirements are of a very wide range. The areas wherein manpower specially requires to be developed include skilled masons, technicians, electricians and electrical services, qualified workshop operators, steel reactor, machine, plumbers, foremen/supervisors and computer literates etc. The development of this intermediary manpower would be greatly rewarding to the entire society as the performance in the various sectors will be greatly improved.

Review HP DeskJet Ink Advantage Ultra 4729 All in One Printer dan Harga di Bulan Juni 2016

Hai, ketemu lagi dengan saya di dokter printer, sebelumnya saya telah membagikan review dari printer HP Deskjet 2135 dan HP Deskjet 3635 dan untuk kali ini saya akan membagikan lagi kepada sahabat semua review Tentang printer HP Deskjet Ink Advantage Ultra 4729. Printer ini juga satu keluarga dengan dua printer yang telah saya posting sebelumnya, yaitu dalam keluarga Advantage.

Printer HP Deskjet Ink Advantage Ultra 4729 ini adalah printer keluaran terbaru dari vendor HP yang memiliki kemampuan multi fungsi atau All-in-One, Akan tetapi printer ini menghadirkan kemampuan yang lebih berkelas dari seri yang sebelumnya. Perbedaan yang mencolok dari printer ini dengan yang sebelumnya saya tulis yaitu HP2135 dan HP3635 dengan HP 4729 ini adalah pada seri tinta yang digunakan dan kuantitas dari pencetakan. Printer ini menggunakan Tinta dengan seri HP 46 Black dan HP 46-Tri Colour. Dengan menggunakan kedua tinta tersebut printer ini memiliki kemampuan mencetak sampai 1500 halaman/lembar untuk mono (hitam putih) dan dan 750 halaman untuk Colour/warna. Gimana gila bukan? 1500 sama 750 halaman?? Kemampuan yang sangat luar biasa.

Untuk Fitur-fitur lain yang ditawarkan hampir sama dengan HP Deskjet seri 3635, hanya saja printer HP 4729 kalah sedikit dari HP 3635 dalam hal kecepatan pencetakannya. HP Deskjet 4729 ini memilliki kecepatan cetak 7.5 ppm untuk hitam dan 5.5 ppm untuk colour. Untuk resolusi printer ini memiliki resolusi yang sama dengan HP 3635 yaitu sampai 4800 Dpi.

Roaming in Romania Day 3 Silence is Grey

Having returned to our hotel at Mila 23 after a frenetic first morning on the Delta, it was time for a bit of a relax with a light lunch, downloading and backing-up images and a siesta to catch up on some missing sleep. As I drew the curtains for the afternoon nap, I noticed a gathering mass of grey clouds in the distance. When I woke at 3pm to get ready for the next photography session, that would take us through the late afternoon and evening, I opened the curtains and a mass of clouds had filled the sky in a low grey blanket. The atmosphere beneath was very still, heavy and slightly oppressive.

We set off in the boat and soon again cut off the wide main channel into a narrow twisting one. However, as we travelled along it very quickly became obvious that a different mood had settled across the Delta. It was as if the change in the weather had tripped a large off switch causing all the birds and wildlife to become inactive and quiet. Even the constant chorus from the frogs had fallen silent. It was quite eerie as we slowly chugged along through the silent weed choke channels that seemed devoid of bird life. You get times like this back in UK, when one day will be very quiet for birds even though they are very active on the days preceding and following.

Despite the apparent lack of activity it was inevitable that we would eventually happen upon the ubiquitous Squacco Heron. This bird put on a good show as it went into stalking mode to catch a frog. The bird became almost cat like as it got lower and lower as it approached the unsuspecting amphibian.

After photographing the bird for a while we carried on our journey with the only bird we came across being a solitary Green Sandpiper in the grey gloom

Not surprisingly the next bird we happened across was another another Squacco heron this one being busily engaged with tackling a large water beetle larvae.

I am not sure if it was the lack of action, the apparent weight of the sky pressing down from above or the fact that we never seemed to quite be in the optimal position to photograph the bird but I was starting to find this session slightly frustrating. I suspect this had mainly to do with the fact of normally being more in control of the position where I am photographing a bird from to ensure a good background and pose. Here I had to make do with where the boat had stopped and I could often see a better photography angle if it had just come to rest in a slightly different position. However, you have to always try and make the best of what is in front of you and the camera.

I think when you travel abroad you often go with expectations that it will be continual action with the camera but this is rarely the case. Those who remember my trip to Hungary last year might recall how we sat in a hide with just a single coot bobbing around in front of us for 7 hours. On this occasion those two Squacco Heron had so far saved a very quiet session.

We sailed into a larger channel and tied up along side a vertical soil bank close to a Kingfisher burrow, although despite waiting there for a while there was no evidence of any birds. Not even a passing electric blue flash to raise the hopes that a bird might appear. As we sat there waiting and hoping, a hatch of large cream Mayflies started. It has many years since I have seen this as thousands of these large flies emerge from the water in unison and dance across the surface for their brief few hours life to mate and then expire. This event certainly woke some of the fish up that were greedily sucking in those that had become trapped in the surface film.

We headed off downstream escorted by a swarms of mayflies and where the channel rejoined the main one a few birds were taking advantage of natures bounty. A merlin, a roller a few common terns were busily snapping up the easy meals but the light was to poor and the sky unattractive shade of grey to make it worthwile to attempt any flight photos. In fact I only took a couple of a Caspian Gull (which is very similar to a Herring Gull except some subtle differences) and a Common Tern that had temporarily alighted on a branch in some debris that had accumulated mid-channel.

We headed off in the boat once more and turned up another channel which after a while opened out in to an enormous reed fringed lake whose surface was dotted with patches of yellow and white lilies. We had a brief encounter with a Night Heron and a solitary White Pelican and as the little light there left was further diminished at the end of the day we could see there were quite a large number of Squacco and Night Herons around the different patches of lilies.

It looked like a place that might be worth visiting the following evening when hopefully the light would be improved. A lone pelican in the rapidly descending darkness also proved to be our first sighting of the much rarer Dalmatian Pelican.

Overall the first day on the Delta had been one of two halves with a wonderful start but a slightly disappointing and frustrating end.
